How We Load a Truck for Highway Transit

Weight Distribution First

The heaviest items, dressers, armoires, refrigerators, and metal shelving, go flat against the front cab wall. The weight toward the front of the truck improves handling and stability on the highway, especially on longer routes where speed is higher and road conditions change. We do not load heavy items in the rear or stacked above lighter pieces. The sequence matters for the entire drive.

Furniture Strapping

Every large piece of furniture gets strapped to the interior walls of the truck. We use cargo straps rated for the piece's weight, not bungee cords or soft ties that stretch and loosen over miles. Choosing the Right Truck Size

Underpacking a truck means leaving items behind. Overpacking a large truck wastes rental money. Here is a general guide. Call us if you are unsure and we will walk through your inventory with you.

10 to 15 Foot Truck

Studio or one-bedroom apartment. Typically covers a full bedroom set, small sofa, dining table with two chairs, and roughly thirty to forty standard boxes. Good for a single person moving light. Most rental companies offer this size with a one-way option.

16 to 20 Foot Truck

One or two-bedroom apartment, or a small house with minimal furniture. Covers two bedroom sets, a full living room, a dining set, and fifty to seventy boxes. This is the most common size for single professionals and couples moving out of Royal Oak to another state.

26 Foot Truck

Three to four-bedroom home. The largest one-way truck available from most rental companies. Covers full household contents including large sectionals, multiple bedroom sets, a full kitchen, and eighty to one hundred boxes. When in Doubt, Go Bigger
